Neurodivergence, Autism and ADHD Support

You don’t need to change who you are. You need space to be who you are. I offer compassionate, affirming support for neurodivergent individuals—including those with Autism and ADHD. Whether you’ve been formally diagnosed or are still exploring, therapy can be a space to unmask, decompress, and reconnect with yourself. Neurodivergence Isn’t a deficit—It’s a difference. The world often isn’t built with neurodivergent minds in mind. Many of my clients come to therapy feeling misunderstood, exhausted by masking, or carrying years of internalized shame. I’m here to offer a different experience. One rooted in acceptance, flexibility, and honoring your way of being. I have been working in this community for the past 15 years, ranging from children who are non-verbal and autistic, to high career performing adults looking for extra ways to manage their autism.
Together, we’ll work to: Explore your sensory, emotional, and relational needs
Build coping strategies that work for your brain
Navigate burnout, anxiety, or executive dysfunction
Repair self-esteem damaged by years of feeling "too much" or "not enough"
Strengthen relationships while maintaining your autonomy
Unpack and release shame, especially if you're late-diagnosed
I work with autistic adults and teens (diagnosed or self-identified)
ADHDers navigating overwhelm, task paralysis, or emotional intensity
Clients exploring whether they may be neurodivergent
Neurodivergent individuals in polyamorous, queer, interracial, or otherwise nontraditional relationships
Parents of neurodivergent children
My Approach is neurodivergence-affirming. I don’t view autism or ADHD as problems to be fixed. I view them as variations of human experience. Many neurodivergent folks have experienced trauma in school, family, or medical systems. I adjust sessions to your pace, needs, and communication style. And I do my best to be creative & holistic – I incorporate art, somatic work, and mindfulness, when desired, to support regulation and self-expression.
You Are Not Alone. Whether you’ve been labeled “too sensitive,” “distracted,” “intense,” or just “different,” I want you to know this: You deserve to be seen, understood, and supported in exactly the way you are.
If this resonates with you, I’d love to hear your story. Schedule a free consultation or email me at maureenmclaughlintherapy@gmail.com
